ZO Skin Health is a globally recognized, physician-dispensed skincare brand founded by renowned dermatologist Dr. Zein Obagi. Built on a science-first philosophy, ZO delivers medical-grade skincare solutions designed to improve skin health at a cellular level—bridging in-office treatments with high-performance at-home regimens.

To complement its unique in-office “buy-and-bill” model, ZO partnered with Ascender to build a connected digital ecosystem that extends beyond the clinic. Our work focused on developing a scalable CRM engine and e-commerce experience that supports both patients and healthcare providers—driving ongoing engagement, reinforcing treatment protocols, and ultimately lifting sales across channels.

Together, we created a more cohesive brand experience that maintains ZO’s premium, physician-led positioning while unlocking new opportunities for growth through digital.

A key innovation was the development of a custom consultation tool for HCPs, enabling them to create personalized, “virtual prescription” skincare regimens in real time. Based on both patient input and clinical observation, the tool generates tailored product recommendations across the full routine—enhancing the consultation experience and supporting more consistent, high-quality care.

To drive engagement at scale, we built a modular email and social marketing system capable of producing over 250 emails annually. Leveraging Klaviyo, Ascender developed a flexible, multi-brand CRM framework supported by a rigorous QA process—testing each campaign across 40+ clients and 10+ devices using Email on Acid.

This scalable, plug-and-play approach enables rapid deployment of visually polished, on-brand communications while maintaining ZO’s premium standards—grounded in best practices shaped by our broader experience in CRM across marketing automation platforms like Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Marketo.
